Žilina
Žilina is a city in north-western Slovakia, around 200 kilometres from the capital Bratislava, close to both the Czech and Polish borders. It is the fourth largest city of Slovakia with a population of approximately 80,000, an important industrial center, the largest city on the Váh river, and the seat of a Žilina Region and of a Žilina District.
How to get there
- By car / by bus
Žilina is an important centre of Slovakia‘s transportation system. Žilina is at the intersection of major European roads and is connected with the capital city Bratislava by the D1 highway.
- By train
Žilina is a major rail hub with regular train services to / from Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, Vienna etc.
- By plane
The nearest airports are Vienna (many major airlines, about 3hrs drive), Bratislava (mainly budget airlines, 2 hours drive), Krakow, Ostrava.
Accommodation
Žilina and the surroundings offer plenty of accommodation options – hotel, private apartments, guesthouses etc. Accommodation can be booked through the major travel booking platforms.
Thanks to the cooperation with the city of Žilina and Budatín Primary School , we can once again offer runners the possibility of staying overnight from Friday Sep 19 to Saturday Sep 20 in the Budatín school gym. More details coming in early 2025.
